Esso Extra to disappear in favour of PC Optimum

To the point PC Optimum will be the only loyalty program offered by Esso service stations as of January 18, 2022.

Esso Extra and PC Optimum had been operating in parallel at Esso stations across Canada for several years.

As of January 18, 2022, only the PC Optimum program will be recognized, which means the end of the Esso Extra program in Canada.

So, this means if you currently use Esso Extra when you visit Esso stations, you can continue to earn and redeem Esso Extra points until January 17, 2022.

Then you can convert them into PC Optimum Points from January 18 to April 30, 2022.

The conversion rate is 1 Esso Extra point = 6 PC Optimum points.

Why are you ending the Esso Extra program?

As PC Optimum^TM redemption at Esso^TM stations launches, the Esso Extra program will end on January 17, 2022. The PC Optimum Program^TM offers Esso Extra members the opportunity to earn points in more places and provides greater flexibility in redeeming for free stuff, including fuel and car washes at Esso stations beginning January 18, 2022. PC Optimum^TM points earned at Esso stations can also be redeemed for eligible products at over 2,500 locations of Loblaw banner grocery stores and Shoppers Drug Mart stores across the country.

Can I still use my Esso Extra card?

You can continue to use your Esso Extra card to earn points or redeem for rewards until January 17, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time. Beginning January 18, 2022, you will no longer be able to use your Esso Extra card to earn or redeem Esso Extra points. If you have not taken positive steps to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum^™ points on or before April 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to convert your points, and will therefore lose the value of your Esso Extra points. Instructions on converting Esso Extra points to PC Optimum^TM points will be provided on or just prior to January 18, 2022.

Download the free PC Optimum^TM app and create an account. Or pick up a free PC OptimumTM card in store (available at participating Esso and Mobil^TM stations, PC Optimum^TM affiliated grocery stores, Shoppers Drug Mart locations) and register your card online through the PC Optimum^TM app or at pcoptimum.ca.

Beginning January 18, 2022 what rewards can I redeem my PC OptimumTM points for at Esso stations?

You’ll be able to redeem your PC Optimum^TM points for fuel and car wash rewards. More information on redeeming PC Optimum^TM points at Esso stations will be provided on or just prior to January 18, 2022.
