Until March 7, 2022, you can earn a 30% bonus on Hyatt points purchase (when buying at least 5,000 points in one transaction).
The normal annual points purchase limit is 55,000 points (pre-bonus) per account per calendar year.
For example, if you wish to purchase 55,000 Hyatt points, it will cost you US$1,320. You will get 16,500 points as a bonus, so 71,500 points in total.

In Canada, other than buying Hyatt points, the only way to earn World Of Hyatt points is by staying at hotels members of the World of Hyatt program.
The transaction is in US dollars.
We recommend that you use a credit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees such as :
- HSBC World Elite® Mastercard®
- Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card
- Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card
You will save 2.5% on fees with this purchase!
Is it worth buying Hyatt points?
The answer to this question is yes and no.
In Canada, we are not fortunate enough to have credit card options that allow us to earn World Of Hyatt points (as opposed to the multiple credit card options available to earn Marriott Bonvoy points).
So buying Hyatt points can be a good solution ONLY when you have a particular goal in mind.
I value World Of Hyatt points at 1.7 US cents (or 2.1 Canadian cents), although they can be used at a much higher value.
As part of this promotion, you can buy Hyatt points for 1.85 U.S. cents.
So it’s interesting to target places where award stays are attractive vs the cash rate!
And remember: when redeeming World Of Hyatt points, you don’t have to pay taxes or service charges, unlike cash rates!

For example, if you buy 28,000 World Of Hyatt points at US$672, you will earn a total of 36,400 points.
You could then use them for three nights at this gorgeous Hotel in Cambodia, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap.

This hotel is classified as a Category 3 hotel and therefore costs 12,000 points per night.
Its rate per night is particularly expensive at US$ 318 US per night (+ tax and service charge).
Thus, if you buy 36,400 points for US$672, you could stay at this hotel for US$1,167.28. That’s a savings of more than 40% when buying Hyatt points.
Conclusion
Therefore, buying Hyatt points can be interesting for some, whether with a specific travel goal and/or to top up a World Of Hyatt points balance to get a free night / free stay.
But if you’re not in one of these situations, we don’t recommend buying points: select other programs like Marriott Bonvoy or Best Western Rewards, for which it’s much easier to get points with credit cards!
