Extension of the validity of the Air Canada Buddy Pass
Air Canada today announced the extension of the Air Canada Buddy Pass validity until December 31, 2022:
We know how much COVID-19 has impacted your travel plans, and it’s essential to us that you receive superior value with your Aeroplan credit card. So we’ve automatically extended the validity of your Buddy Pass: you now have until December 31, 2022 to book a flight for you and your guest and travel at any time between now and December 2023.

As a reminder, the Air Canada Buddy Pass is a benefit that is part of some Aeroplan credit card offers. It allows you to invite one guest at the base rate of $0 when booking economy class flight to any Air Canada destination in North America, including Hawaii and Mexico. For this second ticket, you only pay the taxes and fees collected by third parties.
Before this announcement, the Air Canada Buddy Pass was valid for one year (to make your reservation) from the date it was credited to your Aeroplan account. And you could travel up to a year beyond that date. Like to Hawaii, for example.
With this announcement, you’ll have plenty of time to use it for travel through December 2023… or convert it to 30,000 Aeroplan points through November 30, 2021.
Converting the Air Canada Buddy Pass into 30,000 Aeroplan points
Remember, the Air Canada Buddy Pass can also be converted into 30,000 Aeroplan points until November 30, 2021.
This conversion is mainly for those who are more comfortable with the Aeroplan program (to travel in business class or on flights that are more advantageous with points than with cash) or travelling alone (and therefore have no use for the Air Canada Buddy Pass).
