New Aeroplan Features: Flight Reward Calendar and Seat Selection

Air Canada today launched a new feature: the Aeroplan Flight Reward Calendar. Truth be told, this was a feature that existed in the old iteration of the program and could not be immediately reintroduced when the new program launched in November 2020.

With this calendar, you can immediately see the lowest price in points per day. For example, here is a search for a flight between Montreal and Vancouver from July 7 to 14, 2021:

You can see the calendar with Flight rewards between 9,600 and 10,400 points on these different days.

This is the first phase of implementation of this calendar:

• The Calendar only displays domestic Canadian destinations at this time (Example: Montreal – Vancouver)
• The calendar details pricing both three days ahead and behind your chosen date.

In the coming months, Air Canada intends to enable Aeroplan members to select the lowest price by cabin class (economy, business) and extend this feature to all flight rewards worldwide.

Starting today, Aeroplan members can choose their seat when booking a partner airline flight reward.

At this time, that includes:

• Business and First Class cabin rewards
• On Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines and Air Dolomiti

Surprisingly, Swiss does not seem to be included in this “first batch” even though it is part of the Lufthansa group like the other three. However, Air Canada has indicated that seat selection on other airlines and classes of travel will be available in the coming weeks.
