A straightforward loyalty program
The HSBC +Rewards™ Mastercard® is part of the HSBC +Rewards loyalty program. Let’s see how to use your points for rewards!
Using points
You can use your HSBC +Rewards™ Mastercard® points in many ways:
The first solution is my favourite. However, if you don’t travel, the other two options may be interesting for you!
For travel
Using HSBC Rewards points for travel rewards is one of the best uses of your HSBC +Rewards™ Mastercard® points.
40,000 HSBC Rewards points are worth $200 in travel rewards.
To use your HSBC Rewards points, charge any travel purchase to your HSBC +Rewards™ Mastercard®.
Then you can go to the HSBC Rewards portal to apply your points on your travel purchases and get a statement credit. This is what we do in our family to rent apartments on Airbnb or reduce our flights’ cost to visit our family in France!

Here is, for example, the purchase of an Air Transat flight between Montreal and Nice:

Or some Airbnb or Hotels.com expenses in New Zealand:

To redeem HSBC Rewards points, it works with a chart starting at 25,000 points ($125):
Points | Statement credit |
25 000 | $125 |
35000 | $175 |
45 000 | $225 |
55 000 | $275 |
65 000 | $325 |
75 000 | $375 |
85 000 | $425 |
95 000 | $475 |
105 000 | $525 |
115 000 | $575 |
125 000 | $625 |
135 000 | $675 |
etc. | etc. |

Therefore, you will need to have a minimum of 25,000 points to get a statement credit.
And when it comes to “travel,” you don’t have to leave Canada to take advantage of it!
This could be for example:
- An apartment or cottage rental on Airbnb
- Airline or train tickets to travel in the country
- A car rental
- And much more!
The following purchases have been recognized as travel purchases by HSBC:
