Reciprocal benefits for lounge access
Finally, passengers travelling on transborder or international flights in business class with Delta or WestJet will have access to the partner airline’s lounge.
This brings WestJet and Delta Airlines a little closer together, which is not insignificant in these troubled times of COVID-19. Delta Airlines is one of the leading members of the Skyteam alliance, as are Air France-KLM, already strong partners of WestJet.
This enhanced partnership between WestJet and Delta further competes with the Air Canada/United partnership in North America.
Does this mean that WestJet is moving a little closer to joining SkyTeam to compete with Air Canada and Star Alliance? In any case, some Air Canada frequent flyers may now be tempted to switch to WestJet, especially those who travel frequently to the United States.
