You can earn a 15% bonus by transferring your HSBC points into KrisFlyer miles for a limited time.
Get a 15% bonus when transferring your points to Singapore KrisFlyer!
Until January 16, 2021, you can transfer your points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and get a 15% bonus .
To get this, you must transfer enough points to earn at least 10,000 KrisFlyer miles in one transaction. KrisFlyer offers this promotion (so you won’t see any sign of it on the transfer partner’s side).
There is only one Krisflyer’s transfer partner in Canada:
Here are Krisflyer’s transfer partners in the United States:
- American Express Membership Rewards
- Capital One
- Chase Ultimate Rewards
- Citi ThankYou
However, please be aware that KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after being earned (regardless of whether there is an activity in your KrisFlyer account or not). If you transfer points into Krisflyer miles during this promotion, they will expire in 3 years.
In Canada, only HSBC Rewards allows you to transfer points into KrisFlyer miles.
Here’s what you could get with this 15% transfer bonus:
|HSBC Rewards Points||KrisFlyer Miles||15% bonus|
|25 000||9 000||10 350|
|35 000||12 600||14 490|
|45 000||16 200||18 630|
|55 000||19 800||22 770|
|65 000||23 400||26 910|
|75 000||27 000||31 050|
|85 000||30 600||35 190|
|95 000||34 200||39 330|
|105 000||37 800||43 470|
|115 000||41 400||47 610|
|125 000||45 000||51 750|
With KrisFlyer miles, you can book specific flight awards not available to Star Alliance partners such as Aeroplan.
I am thinking in particular of some Singapore Airlines business class routes or first-class flights. Such as the Singapore Airlines Suite in some A380s.
The most interesting options are the following – provided that Saver Awards are available, which is rare (non-COVID-19 times):
|Flight||KrisFlyer Miles (Saver)|
|Singapore – London||125 000|
|Singapore – Zurich||125 000|
|Singapore – Sydney||85 000|
|Singapore – Tokyo||70 000|
|Singapore – Shanghai||53 000|
|Singapore – Mumbai||53 000|
|Singapore – Hong Kong||40 500|
This means that by transferring 105,000 HSBC Rewards points to KrisFlyer, you’ll earn 43,700 KrisFlyer miles, enough to book a one-way First Class flight between Singapore and Hong Kong.
Alternatively, these 105,000 HSBC Rewards points could be used for a travel credit (a $525 value).
Please note that currently, due to COVID-19, Singapore Airlines has removed from its schedule any availability for First Class flights until October 31, 2021. Therefore, it is a bet for better times, keeping in mind that your miles will expire in 36 months!
