New partnership to earn Canadian Tire Money at Petro-Canada

Petro-Canada and Canadian Tire join forces in the fall of 2023.

All 280 Canadian Tire Gas+ stations will become Petro-Canada stations. This will be in addition to the 1,500 Petro-Canada existing stations.

Next, the Triangle Rewards Program and the Petro-Points Program will be linked through a multi-year partnership. This means that Canadian Tire Money will be earned at all Petro-Canada stations.

The Triangle Rewards program has 11 million members and the Petro-Points program has 3 million members. Each will retain control of its respective program and there is no merger in sight, according to the announcement.

We will keep this page updated to confirm details as they become available.

As of today, no information has been released on :

• the earn rate
• the redeeming rate
• or how the consumer will be asked to choose between the two programs at Petro-Canada.

So, until this is announced, there is no change.

• The CT Money is still in effect at Gas+ gas stations only
• Petro-Points are still used at Petro-Canada stations
• RBC and Petro-Canada linked cards will continue to receive the 3¢/litre discount and earn 20% more points

Let’s think further ahead. Will Petro-Points members ever be able to use their points at Canadian Tire or Sports Experts? Or will the two programs simply merge?
