Montreal – Cairo: Air Canada’s New Non-Stop Destination

To the point Air Canada inaugurated a new Montreal - Cairo service, one of its first scheduled flights to Egypt. And as a bonus, there's good news for YUL's Maple Leaf lounge.

With this new flight, the airline wants to serve the large Egyptian community in Montreal and throughout North America. In addition, this brings an additional gateway city to Africa.

Flight schedule and cost for Montreal - Cairo

The flight schedule for this service will be three times a week and will be operated by the Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner:

Flight Departure Arrival Days
AC74 Montreal 5:50 pm Cairo 10:15 am +1 day Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
AC75 Cairo 12 noon Montreal 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Sunday

Here is an example of a fare in dollars for a departure from Montreal, in economy class. It shows a September start and return for $1,009.70:

And another example for the same dates, but using Aeroplan points. The cost would be 74,000 Aeroplan points and $107.70.

Please keep in mind that these flights may be affected by Canadian and Egyptian air entry requirements.

For a Signature Class flight, the cost is $2,299.70, for the same dates (which is pretty low considering the distance traveled).

For a flight in Signature Class, the cost in points is 148,400 Aeroplan points and $107.70.

These flights are scheduled to optimize connections within the Air Canada network. Through Star Alliance partner EGYPTAIR, passengers will have access to connections to several cities in Egypt (Aswan, Hurghada, Luxor and Sharm el-Sheikh), Bahrain and Jordan.

On board the 787 Dreamliner

With the arrival of the Dreamliner in its fleet about seven years ago, Air Canada wanted this aircraft to play a strategic role in its international expansion.

Pre-pandemic, its new non-stop destinations announced with the Dreamlilner included Auckland, Honolulu, Quito and São Paulo, for example. We actually had the chance to experience this direct Signature Class flight to Brazil in February 2020.

Opening of the Maple Leaf lounge

At the same time, Air Canada has announced that its domestic Maple Leaf lounge will reopen on June 23 to welcome domestic and international customers.

Conclusion

It is always great to see Montreal-Trudeau International Airport welcome such new direct international flights and for Air Canada to continue to expand its network.

The only thing left is waiting for all requirements for travellers to ease, so we can all visit these destinations!
