After announcing numerous new destinations and routes in recent months, Porter adds a direct route between Toronto and Winnipeg to its list, and announces the forthcoming delivery of ten Embraer E195-E2 aircraft to its fleet.

New Toronto-Winnipeg route

It is now possible to book this new route between Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Winnipeg’s Richardson International Airport (YWG). These flights will start on September 7, 2023, with a frequency of two daily roudntrip flights. Here are the details:

Toronto YYZ – Winnipeg YWG 10:05 a.m., 3:50 p.m. 11:41 a.m., 5:26 p.m.
Winnipeg YWG – Toronto YYZ 12:30 p.m., 6:20 p.m. 3:55 p.m., 9:45 p.m.

Interesting fact: On-board amenities on this flight include complimentary snacks, beer and wine and free Wi-Fi for all passengers. An offer not to be overlooked for business travelers!

For example, a return flight from Toronto-Winnipeg from September 18 to 21 will cost $176.91 with the Basic fare. As you might expect, this does not include checked or carry-on baggage.

Porter TO WIN simulation

“Winnipegers will soon have access to Porter’s elevated economy experience, an option that doesn’t exist in Winnipeg today,” said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “Porter has been recognized as having the best cabin service in North America, and we provide that award-winning service to every passenger at highly competitive fares.”

This new service follows other recently announced routes between Ottawa-Vancouver, Montreal-Vancouver and Toronto-Vancouver.

All flights between Toronto and Winnipeg will be operated by Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, justifying the arrival of ten additional aircraft during 2023.

10 more Embraer E195-E2 aircraft

Porter has concluded sale and leaseback agreements for ten Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with Avolon, recognized as a world leader in aircraft leasing. These aircraft will be delivered later in 2023. Porter, which had only De Havilland Dash 8-400s in its fleet, currently operates 11 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The addition of 10 units is part of a 50-unit order, with the option of buying 50 more.

With these E195-E2s, Porter can offer destinations like:

  • the West Coast
  • the southern United States
  • Mexico
  • and the Caribbean.
Porter Carte current and future

“The E2 is an incredible addition to the Porter fleet. It offers best-in-class cost savings per seat and is an ideal aircraft for delivering the truly differentiated in-flight passenger experience for which Porter is renowned. To do this, we need to treat every customer with care and offer complimentary amenities like Wi-Fi, as well as beer and wine served in glasses throughout the cabin,” explains Jeffrey Brown, Porter’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. We’re pleased to partner with Avolon and leverage their reputation and expertise in aircraft rental, making them an ideal new partner.”
