Then it was the turn of Membership Rewards cards to be spoiled with the possibility of redeeming 1,000 points for a $10 statement credit on all purchases (instead of $7).
Now it’s the turn of The Platinum Card® again with two great benefits from April 21 to July 20, 2020:
- Redeem 1,000 points for a $20 statement credit

Today, Mathieu L., a member of the milesopedia community discovered in his Platinum Card account that he can redeem 1,000 points on all purchases for a $20 credit (instead of $7 usually or $10 for travel)!

It is sure that at the moment, Platinum Cardmembers were having trouble using it:
- Its travel benefits are currently useless (access to airport lounges, hotel status, travel credit)
- Its accelerated earning categories are not appropriate for the COVID-19 pandemic (3 points per dollar for restaurants and bars, 2 points for travel)
So, with American Express offering to earn double the points for three months is particularly appealing, more interesting when combined with the points redemption offer at a 1,000 points = $20 value!
