Of course, these itineraries are subject to the travel restrictions of Canada, the United States and other countries.
Therefore, we assume that :
- the travel warning will be at level 2 as planned on February 28, 2022
- adult travellers are ALL double vaccinated according to Canadian requirements
- that for each entry and exit of the countries, you are aware of the risks, the requirements and the screening tests
Note that March Break is on different dates for many students! A student from :
- Charlevoix, Montreal or Rouyn-Noranda has its march break from February 27 to March 05, 2022
- Laval, Quebec or Bas-St-Laurent has its march break from March 06 to March 12, 2022
We have therefore divided the results according to these 2 weeks.
Hurry up and make a reservation! The availability and the cost in points fluctuate very quickly!
In addition, these scenarios have been built with the following criterias:
- Non-stop flights as much as possible (to avoid missed stops due to bad weather and minimize travel time)
- Cost of 100,000 Aeroplan points or less
- Flight in economy class
- The result has a value of 2 cents or more per Aeroplan point, at the time of publication
The examples are for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
100,000 Aeroplan points can be earned with Aeroplan credit cards. One of the best is the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card, especially since the annual fee is waived for the first year (check out the current offer).
To speed up the earnings, each person in the couple can apply for one. Then simply link Aeroplan points through family sharing.
For more information on the Aeroplan program, see the Ultimate Guide on Aeroplan.
February 27 - March Break Week with 100,000 Aeroplan points
Even with less than 10 days until March break, there are still some vacation opportunities available in Florida! Fort Lauderdale and Miami offer these flights to get a taste of the heat.
For Fort Lauderdale, a getaway costs 88,400 Aeroplan points and $327 in taxes. Paid in cash, it would have cost $2,680, for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
For Miami, there are no combinations to have non-stop round trip flights, according to our criteria.
On the way back, we stop for a while at the Newark-Liberty International Airport (New Jersey). The total will be 97,200 Aeroplan points and $483. This flight would normally cost $4,478.
Remember, if you have an Air Canada Buddy Pass, it may be good to use it for travel to Florida.
However, this will involve a stopover in Chicago on the way back. But it is long enough to take a hotel nearby and sleep before leaving for Montreal.
In fact, for this date, several Marriott Bonvoy hotels are available within a few points around O’Hare International Airport.
Then, with the right credit card, you can get a first checked bag for free!
Despite all our research, it was hard to find destinations for 4 people to Vancouver or Calgary during the March break, according to our criteria.
The best result was Calgary, but with a stopover on the way back.
March 6 - March Break Week with 100,000 Aeroplan points
Montreal - Fort Lauderdale
During this week, there are still some very nice combinations of dates! Feel free to make yours around March 06, with a return on March 11.
For 47,200 Aeroplan points and $327, the whole family will be barefoot in the sand.
Montreal - Las Vegas
With 76,000 Aeroplan points and $327 in taxes, you can view Las Vegas from the top of the High Roller Las Vegas strip observation wheel.
From Quebec City with 100,000 Aeroplan points
Quebec City - Fort Lauderdale
Since this week is more for students in the greater Quebec City area, here are some ideas from YQB.
The only direct destination to Florida is to Fort Lauderdale. But the necessary points are beyond our criteria.
2 adults and 2 children can go to Fort Lauderdale for a week, with one stopover for each segment. This requires 77,600 Aeroplan points and $539.
On the way back, the stopover is long enough to allow for a rest in a nearby hotel.
Quebec - Cancun
If you want to spend March break in the heat, there’s Mexico!
Cancun is within reach for 82,000 Aeroplan points and $649. Purchased in dollars, the four tickets are worth $3,456.
Quebec City - Chicago
Quebec City - Calgary
With the same problem for Western Canada encountered above, flights to Calgary and Vancouver are expensive in points.
But here is an option.
Four round-trip flights from Quebec City to Calgary require 97,200 Aeroplan points and $509 in taxes.
A long layover is required in Toronto, but 8 Marriott Bonvoy hotels are available at reasonable prices.
These routes were calculated when the article was written in mid-February 2022. If you want to reserve, please do so as soon as possible, as the planes fill up quickly. Some point and dollar costs may have changed since then.
Several other destinations were also searched (Vancouver, Tampa, Nassau, San Diego, Phoenix, etc.) but the results did not match the conditions.
If you find a flight for less than 100,000 Aeroplan points to a destination during March Break, please let us know. Join us in the milesopedia Facebook group!
Have a good trip!
